Final Debate

First off, sorry i haven't posted for a while.  This whole election thing has gotten me a wee bit depressed, but I'm back in action after this debate. For any of you that didn't see it, there's probably a post on youtube or something, so go watch it.

FINALLY! John McCain decided he'd actually call obama on some things tonight, namely abortion and ACORN. While he could have done much more, i'm glad he finally got the nerve to attack him for once. Sometimes the high road doesn't work. In any case, this had much better moderation from what I saw. The questions were fair, and he asked both candidates some pretty tough questions, both on the issues and their campaigns, which was a kind of nice little twist. Personally, I'm not quite sure who won.  Obama's folks will say he did, and ditto for McCain's. This is gonna be a tight one folks. Might wanna have a plane ticket for Australia, just in case. 

Hmmm. . .wouldn't it be so much simpler if we just had a giant game of dodgeball? Republicans on one side, dems on the other. Stupid hippies won't play, and the republicans would have most of the military. Oh yes, much simpler ;-)

Vice Presidential Debate

Sorry I didn't post yesterday All. I was saving it for Today, you know, trying to keep my creative juices tank at full. So without further adieu, here's my views on the debate.

Sarah Palin did much better then a lot of people thought, but she did about what I expected out of her. She was witty, always had a comeback to Biden's answers, and was well informed. Mr. Biden, on the other hand, was a wee bit snobby. Did you see him while she was talking? He almost always had a condescending smile on his ugly mug. And I certainly know condescending when I see it. I hope if you're reading this you know about the moderator, but I'll sum up her little side-story. She is planning on releasing a book if Obama wins about Obama. That should never have flown, AT ALL! I don't understand why no one in the McCain campaign called her on it. On that note, I thought she did an OK job, although Biden got the last word WAAAAAAAY too often.  Well, she did okay, right up until She let Biden interupt Palin towards the end of the speech. Aren't Moderators supposed to prevent that? Hmm, I must be confusing the Words "moderator" and "spineless lampray" again. My bad folks. In all seriousness, Palin did quite well for what everyone expected. 

On a lighter note, Ya'll should go to AskANinja.com. It's the funniest website since that time I looked up Obamunism on google (which you should all do by the way: pick the very top article for some sweet T-shirts).  Well, that's about it for tonight. I might have some of the reactions to the debate up tomorrow, probably with some links thrown in there. Night Ya'll!

I might actually start hitting things at this point.

First off, I apologize for my lack of blogs of late. I've made a new schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I'll blog. I'll also blog when big stuff goes down. And now for the super-angry-rant-filled blog you've all been waiting for.
I am certainly not a fan of bailouts. America was founded on the basis of the consumer rule and capitalism. People should buy what they want and that should dictate prices and goods available. If people want to make dumb decisions, they should take the fall and blame no one but themselves. The people who are hurt by this got interest-only loans and adjustable rate mortgages. If you get these, you're going down. Interest-only loans cannot be paid off if you're only paying interest: You'll pay till you die. Adjustable rate morgages change the amount you have to pay at a time based on the market. If the market goes down, you pay more. Turns out the rampant use of these two strategies led to the current downfall we now face.
As I already said, bailouts are a no-no. But it would appear that things are far worse then they should have ever gotten. By Saturday, no one will be able to get loans for just about anything. The bailout plan that failed today was supposed to make it all go away. Good Job! (sarcasm) But I'm not certain which path would be the best. Should we let these people off the hook and hope they learned their lessons? Or should we stick to our guns and potentially watch the world burn? I honestly don't know this time. Although, we can have hope: "The Lord Will Provide"

Time for a press pow-wow

Whenever my Step-dad talks to my little-brother, he opens it up by jokeingly starting with, "Let's have a father/son pow-wow". I think I should have one of those with the media right about now. Let me lay this out for ya: 

First up- Leave Sarah Palin ALONE! I can't tell you the amount of times I've heard those ever-so loving and accepting democrats say nasty comments about this lady. And the one that really gets my goat: Some don't think her youngest son is actually her son. If anyone I knew said that, I might have to have a little chat with the principal on why my fist has someone else's teeth embeded in the knuckle, if you know what I mean. I'm honestly sick of it. 

Topic Number Zwei: I know hurricane's are bad and all, but why do i keep having to listen to some sad-sob story about some idiot family who woke up in their second floor bedroom ankle deep in water just because they wouldn't evacuate. For crying in a bucket, folks, It's a stinking HURRICANE! Why would you willingly stand in it's way?! Come one, use your head for something besides a hat rack!
And Lastly, my Number Three for this fine fall week: I am fed up with global warming nonesense. There's a few factors to this little phenomena: It all started in the early nineties. The only reason weather averages were up globally was because the soviet union went down, effectively shutting down their weather stations in places like siberia, where it is pretty cold. Of course the removal of a few outliers will change things up. The Farmer's Almanac says that the nest ten to twenty years will be colder then average. What people don't realize is that the earth runs in cycles. There was a temporary hot spot in the middle ages: Ever wonder why the Vikings decided that greenland would be a nice place to live? For more info on this, I recommend the Book "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global warming." It's a good read.

Busy week

Sorry I haven't posted this week, folks. I've been caught somewhere between School, job-hunting, and working at the school concession stands every night, and I'm beat. SO, I'm gonna give a nice little recap for this whole stinking week. 

Tuesday: The First REAL night of the RNC. Not a whole lot happened. Apparently, Sarah Palin's daughter being pregnant is news. Not so much in my opinion. Sure, it's unfortunate, but it is a private matter, and thus has nothing to do with the media. We're sick of hearing about it, so chill. We also recieved an E-Mail that day saying we could reserve tickets to hear McCain and Palin speak on Saturday. This slowly wound down when on thursday we learned that even though they were reserved, It was still a first come-first serve thing. My dad used a few choice words I'd rather not repeat on that whole fiasco.

Wednesday: Sarah Palin is probably one of the best speakers I think I've ever heard. She really fired up the whole convention, and probably won McCain a few votes at the same time. Little Known Fact: Her teleprompter wasn't working very well so she had to recall most of her 20 minute speech from memory. Not even my keen eyes noticed this.

Thursday: McCain showed he can give a decent speech as well. Not as good as Palin's, but he's never been so great at that kind of stuff. The end of the speech was particularly enthralling, and I've never seen that man so excited. 

All In all, it wasn't too bad of a week. I'll try to keep posting regardless of my personal energy reserves this week folks, Sorry bout that.

Kind of a Slow Labor Day. . . Not that that's a bad thing

Well, Labor Day has come and gone, and not a whole lot happened. The RNC took the high ground (like in Star Wars Ep. III) and shortened their events for today to just a short joint speech by Mrs. Bush and Mrs. McCain. The cause for this lackluster change in events was Senior Gustav. It would appear that El Presidente has learned from his mistakes, though I think the Katrina Fiasco is far more the Local Government's responsibility.
As I sat on my couch watching Fox News today, I was proud that the RNC would have to be put on hold today, regardless of how bored I was. I'm glad that Bush and the Governors of the affected states were staying behind to make sure everything turned out O.k., and It most certainly did. Only 7 lives were lost (wow, I feel bad about saying only, but I could have been far worse), and there was minimal destruction, felt mostly along the coast.
I guess I can sum up the experiences of the day by saying I got the most out of this year's Labor Day by doing very little, which is supposed to be the point of the day anyways, right? But I do think we should all remember and pray for the men and women who's lives have been affected by the Hurricane. I leave you with one final question: Who decided to name Hurricanes anyways? I bet it was a tree-hugger.

A bit of catching up to do. . .

Man, it's amazing what you miss in a few days time. We'll start with a short recap of Thursday's Obamalamadingdong speech. You wouldn't believe how many people have walked up to me and said "That man said everything I wanted to hear." The funny thing is, most people also wondered what he was going to do to accomplish these tasks. Unless every doctor is going to work for free, someone has to pay for "free" health care. I've heard that Canadians come to America for health care. Where will we go when we have the same problem. And I'm pretty sure you can guess where I stand on "wealth Distribution" (my fingers feel dirty just for typing that.) All in all, it was empty fluff that polluted my favorite team's stadium. Moving On!
Holy Smokes, that Sarah Palin is a fireball, isn't she?! She's got a hard anti-abortion stance, she fights to stop corruption in the government (she turned down congress' infamous "bridge to nowhere") and she hunts moose regularly. If she isn't the hardline conservative McCain needed, I don't know who is. I have yet to hear anyone say anything bad about her, other than her lack of experience. Listen up folks: she has more executive experience then any of the presidential nominees, and has more on-the-job time then Obama. He's been campaigning most of his time in office! That really doesn't help his case to complain about McCain's argument of Obama's lack of experience (did that statement make sense?). All in all, she's an excellent pick.
Ah, the RNC. It'll be like the shower you get when you come home from Kamp. I feel a little dirty about forcing myself to watch the DNC all last week. Hopefully this will be worth the wait. One tiny little problem: Gustav. This little pain has caused a couple thousand people to evacuate, a rearrangement in the events at the RNC, and Bush and Cheney will not be able to attend because they're gonna watch this puppy like a hawk. It would appear that Bush has learned from his "mistake" (the quotes are because I honestly feel it's not his fault: People should probably learn to get out of the path of a 175 mph act of God headed towards their houses. That fiasco falls squarly on the local governments overpaid heads). Maybe this will show that Republicans aren't all Guns-A-Blazin' and can be responsible with things like weather problems. Undecided Voters, here we come!

The DNC: How much more Anti-Conservative can they get?

All right, I'd like to start off by saying I'm fine with free speech. I'm glad these people have the ability to say what they want to say. I just get sooooooooo angry concerning what they're actually saying. Allow me to shed some light on the subject.
First off, I have never seen so many negative people in one place at once. Every one of these peoples speeches consist mostly of conservative bashing. Apparently, since the last time I went outside (which, if you know me, may have been quite awhile) the country has descended to a third world country where people have to kill each other for food, steal gas, and the richest live in cardboard boxes. And if we all wish really hard, The Great Savior Barack Obama will descend from the Heavens and give Chuck Norris a run for his money. And apparently, George W. Bush is code for the Devil. Oh, and John McCain is just the Devil in a different, very ancient form. And I'm not exagerating. This is really what these people believe. If I hear that McCain is Bush pt. 3, I might just start killing donkeys (the animals, not the dems: I'm afraid of jail).
Oh well, I guess there's a light at the end of the tunnel. John McCain will be announcing his running mate tomorrow. I hope it's early enough that it distracts from the High Lord Obama's speech. It's getting harder and harder to stay hopeful in such trying times. Who knows, maybe the world isn't changing so much that I am. Only time will tell.

Hillary's Farewell Speech: Really?

Okay, this is almost too easy. Let's start from the beginning. Did everybody see that movie at the beginning? Good Gravy, that was a proverbial self-pat-on-the-back, now wasn't it? And now, to the meat of the topic, the speech itself.
Oh Hillary, you disappoint me. All week, I heard about the party unity that was supposed to spring forth from this speech. Instead, we got a speech about all how much she accomplished. Sure, there was a little in there about Obama, but it was far more Pro-Hillary then Pro-Obama. Oh, and this leads me on to another portion of the speech: The anti-Republican part.
Now, I know this is the Democratic National Convention, but is all you have to work with the negatives of the Republican Party? The Economy is not bad: it is not falling, it is not in the same spot. It is raising. Not as fast as before (which is why it seems bad) but it's rising. And foreclosures are not Bush's fault. People make Adjustable Rate mortgages and buy houses they can't afford. then they're out of luck when the housing prices change. It's not too complicated. Oh, and why is everything about women? I mean, when is the last time you saw a white-boy college fund? Exactly.
Oh, Hillary, you had so many chances to pull off a good speech, but it wasn't even that great, even without the message intact. Perhaps we have seen the beginning of the Second Fall Of Communism. I guess we shall see.

If you watched the entire forum, you may or may not have noticed a few points. First off, Obama canNOT speak without a script. He stuttered over ever question, and Often didn't even give a straight answer. He also will not stand by his convictions. He says he thinks marriage is between a man and a women, then says he will not make laws supporting that feeling. He's also pro-choice for lame reasons. Now-a-days, it is EXTREMELY rare for an abortion to be necessary to save the mother's life. On top of that, he rarely gave a definitive answer. He would spin it to whichever answer would get him in the least amount of trouble.
Now for McCain. He's never been on the top of my list, but he's moved up a few notches. He usually gave short, sweet answers that were more likely then not what i agreed with. He's pro-life, feels evil should be stomped out and not negotiated with, and has a tough stand on education. He was always solid with his thoughts, and never spun the question. This man has earned a whole new level of respect from me, and if I could, I would proudly give him my vote.
